Women on Water

Women on Water or WOW as its affectionately know is a Member run initiative at RGYC that advocates and celebrates women in sailing!

The WOW group is about creating a community within the Club that allows women to connect, inspire and build friendships with other female sailors through WOW activities, Sailing Season Programs, the WOW Committee, specialty race days such as the Women’s Helm Series and Women’s skills sessions and training days.

How to Get Involved?

As a female Member of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club you are automatically invited to all WOW programs and initiatives! You will also be included in the WOW WhatsApp group and have access to mentoring and support from other WOW members, and access to specialty information sessions.

Women on Water Social Life!

The WOW group hosts monthly casual social gatherings at the Clubs Members’ Night on Fridays specifically aimed at making connections with other female Members and the broader Membership community.

The WhatsApp group also provides regular updates and links to other events and social gatherings hosted by the club, to keep you up to date with all the opportunities to get involved at RGYC!

Pathways

While it can be hard to get started or find pathways for progression in the sport of sailing. WOW provides a supportive group of like minded women who are passionate about sailing and helping other women enjoy the sport. The WOW group also helps to introduce you to a wider group of RGYC Members and build lasting friendships at the Club.

The WOW group is here to help propel you into a lifetime of meaningful friendships and enjoyment as a sailor!

Women on Water and SheSails

The RGYC Women on Water group is a proud supporter of the SheSails Australian Sailing designed initiative. SheSails recognizes all of the amazing female contributors to our sport, and to encourage women of all ages to get involved in the sport of sailing.

Upcoming Women’s Keelboat Skills Sessions

RGYC run Women on Water training sessions are an entry level program designed to help build and develop the fundamentals of sailing and racing and are taught in a fun, safe and all female environment. Dinghies are a two or three person boat that are exciting to sail and allow for maximum hands-on learning.
