Youth & Adult Learn to Sail

The Australian Sailing Start Crewing Course is the aimed at people with little or no experience in sailing and is run over 12hrs. The participants will learn about sailing a small responsive keel-boat with an emphasis on practical experience. With an Ratio of one instructor to 5 participants you will get plenty of time crewing and helming the boat. Cost $375

Start Helming

This course is designed to improve your sailing skills by building on your practical and theory knowledge that you have  previously learnt through the Start Crewing Course. Cost $375

Start Skippering

You will now advance your sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable you to skipper unsupervised in sheltered waters. Skills, knowledge and experience are built on the experiences you’ve gained from completing the Start Crewing and Start Helming courses. Cost $375

DINGHY COURSES

We run regular Saturday morning sessions where you can learn the fundamentals of sailing in a fun and safe environment. The RGYC Training Pacers are dinghies that are a small 2 person boat, (pictured above), that are exciting and wet and can tip over!

Start Sailing 1 & 2

Areas Covered

This course is conducted on Saturday mornings over the first half of the sailing season.
Sailing terminology, boat launch and recovery, capsize recovery in shallow & deep water,
rigging of the boat, sail a triangular course, man over board, basic sailing rules and theory. Cost $320

Better Sailing (Start Sailing prerequisite)

Areas Covered

An extension of the skills learnt in Start sailing 1&2 course, including towing, capsize recovery of inverted boat, understand and identify weather and environmental conditions, sail settings, boat handling techniques, and an introduction to racing under tuition.
