Junior Race Fleet
Optimist Race Fleet
The Optimist Race fleet is for those students who have completed the Australian Sailing accredited training pathway!
Competitors should be well tuned to the sailing scene, and hopefully become part of the Clubs regular racing program on Saturday afternoons from 1:30-4 pm throughout Spring and Summer.
Families are encouraged to participate, by assistant on the water on our safety boat fleet, or perhaps undertake some of the courses tailored to adult learn to sail.
. It is anticipated that participants have purchased an optimist, or can charter one of the Club’s boats. There will be additional fees for membership ($133), race fees ($108) and storage ($82). Professional coaching is also available for an additional fee.
Cadet Race Fleet
The International Cadet Class is a great boat for young crews to get involved in sailing without the stress of having to buy a boat. Skilled younger sailors are always in short supply to sail on our two handed junior class. Skippers are aged between 11 and 16, and crewing is a great way for kids aged 7-10 to be mentored on the same boat. There will be additional fees for membership ($133), but costs associated with boat ownership do not apply! Professional coaching is also available for an additional fee, but this cost can be split between the two.
If your children have completed, or nearly completes the tackers program, please contact the Off the beach dinghy Chairperson, Diarmuid McCoy, or Sailing Administrator Mike Williams on 03 5229 3705, and we will assist in getting your kids on the water!
